How to install Homeway on a Windows PC

Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)

Homeway for Windows supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). Once it’s set up, you can watch live TV, dramas and variety shows from China in Chinese video apps on your PC and in your browser, while other software and websites connect directly as usual.

Installation steps

  1. On your PC, open homeway.tv/desktop/windows to download the installer Homeway-Setup-x64.exe.
  2. Double-click the installer. If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
  3. When Windows asks whether to allow this app to make changes to your device, click Yes and wait for the installation to finish.
  4. Open Homeway from the Start menu or your desktop.

Sign in and start watching

  1. Open Homeway and sign in with a verification code sent to your email, or choose “Scan to sign in”, scan with your phone and confirm there.
  2. Click the moon gate. The first time, Homeway needs to install its tunnel component — click Yes when Windows asks for permission.
  3. Once the moon gate is lit, open the Chinese video apps on your PC, or go to video websites in your browser.

FAQ

Why does it say “Windows protected your PC”?

The Homeway installer for Windows isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows shows a one-time warning for software it doesn’t recognise. The installer you download from homeway.tv is the official one — click “More info → Run anyway”.

Can I use the free plan on a PC?

No. The free plan works on one phone only. You can use your PC during the 7-day free trial; after that, subscribe to Standard or Family to keep using it.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

You need the 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11. Windows 7 and 8 aren’t supported, and Windows PCs with ARM processors aren’t supported yet — use the browser extension instead.

What about Mac?

A Mac version isn’t available yet. For now, install the Homeway browser extension in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on your Mac and watch in the browser.

How do I update it later?

When a new version is out, Homeway downloads it automatically and shows “Restart to install” — just click it. Acceleration pauses for a few seconds while it installs, then comes back on by itself.

How do I uninstall it?

In Windows Settings → Apps, find Homeway and click Uninstall. The tunnel component is removed along with it.
